Medication Review

nurse avatarYou’ve been prescribed Warfarin to prevent blood clots and Lisinopril to manage your blood pressure. Would you like me to explain how to take these medications, and review some of the common side effects?
Yeah, I could use a refresher.
Of course. Warfarin is taken once daily, usually at the same time each day. Since it affects blood clotting, it’s important to take it exactly as prescribed. If you miss a dose, don’t double up - just take the next one as scheduled. Your doctor may also check your blood regularly to make sure your dosage is right.
Lisinopril is also taken once a day. It helps lower your blood pressure, but some people feel a little dizzy when they first start taking it. If that happens, try standing up slowly from sitting or lying down. If it gets worse or doesn’t go away, we should check in with your doctor.
